NTAP's Board

A new Board of Directors has been charged with charting the course for NTAP in its infancy. Our Board members are:

Alison Paul, Board Chair.
Alison Paul is the Deputy Director of Grants and Administration of the Montana Legal Services Association in Helena, Montana, where she oversees all of MLSA's technology projects. Prior to coming to Montana, Alison attended law school at the University of Kansas, and was in private practice in Chicago, Illinois, primarily advising tax-exempt organizations on tax and corporate issues. Alison received the 2005 NLADA Innovations in Equal Justice Award for her innovative use of technology to serve MLSA's low income clients, including her development of MLSA's court-based video conferencing project and Hot Docs web-based document assembly system for pro se family law forms. Alison is the current co-chair of the NLADA Technology Committee.

Gwen Daniels, Treasurer.
Gwen Daniels is the Director of Technology Development at Illinois Legal Aid Online, a leader in the national legal aid community on using and developing online tools that promote advocacy, collaboration, and information sharing among legal aid lawyers, pro bono attorneys, and clients in Illinois. Prior to working at Illinois Legal Aid Online, Gwen spent eight years at the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law in various roles including Manager of Finance and Technology, Systems Analyst, and Network Administrator.  She received her J.D. from Depaul University and also has a B.B.A. in Accounting.

Hugh Calkins, Secretary.
Hugh Calkins is the Director of Research and Development for Pine Tree Legal Assistance, a statewide legal services provider in Maine. He also acts as a technology consultant to national organizations – the National Legal Aid and Defender Association and Management Information Exchange – as well as to legal aid programs around the country. Hugh joined the legal services community in 1969 after receiving his Ju.D. from University of Colorado. His work and leadership in Maine have resulted in a statewide video conferencing system used among courts and legal aid providers, and a statewide legal help website that receives over one million visits a year.

Gulwinder Singh, Asst. Treasurer.
Gullu Singh is the founding partner of Landmark Law Group LLP, a boutique transactional real estate law firm in Los Angeles with 5 attorneys. Prior to that he was with O'Melveny & Myers LLP and Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP. He received a J.D. from the University of Southern California and a B.A. in Economics from Duke University.

John Girard, Member
John Girard is the founder and CEO of Clickability. Under his leadership Clickability has grown from a garage-based dream of four Stanford graduates, to become the most successful single-source provider of hosted web publishing technologies. The biggest names in publishing, including the Wall Street Journal, CNN Interactive and Popular Mechanics, rely on Clickabilitiy's on-demand content management applications to deliver the news to millions of readers each day. As CEO of Clickability, Girard's primary responsibilities include product and partnership strategies and fundraising.

Ed Marks, Member 

Ed Marks has been actively involved in legal services for the past twenty years. Currently, Ed is the Litigation Director for Legal Aid of Western Ohio. Ed has worn nearly every hat in legal services: staff attorney, managing attorney, project director, and innovator.
